Montyz Music Behaviour Policy
Montyz Music Behaviour Policy
1. Purpose
At Montyz Music, we aim to create a positive, safe, and supportive environment where all children can enjoy and benefit from their sessions. This policy sets clear expectations to help everyone feel comfortable, respected, and able to take part fully.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all children attending Montyz Music sessions, along with the support of their parents/guardians.
3. Expected Behaviour
We expect all children to:
Be kind, respectful, and considerate to others
Listen to and follow staff instructions
Take care of equipment and the learning environment
Contribute positively so everyone can enjoy their session
4. Unacceptable Behaviour
Some behaviours are not appropriate in our sessions, including:
Aggressive or threatening behaviour
Unkind or inappropriate language
Ongoing disruption that affects others
Misuse or damage of equipment
Ignoring staff instructions
Any behaviour that may cause harm or discomfort to others
5. Our Approach to Behaviour
We always aim to manage behaviour calmly, fairly, and consistently. In many cases, children will be given reminders or verbal warnings to help them get back on track.
However, we take a practical approach and will respond based on what is appropriate for the situation. This means that action taken may vary depending on the nature, frequency, or impact of the behaviour.
6. When Behaviour Does Not Improve
If a child continues to struggle to meet expectations, or if their behaviour significantly impacts others, we may need to take further action. This can include:
Speaking with parents/guardians
Asking a child to sit out or leave part of a session
Temporary suspension from sessions
In more serious situations, action may be taken more quickly to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
7. Ongoing or Serious Concerns
Where behaviour does not improve over time, or where there are more serious concerns, Montyz Music may decide that sessions are no longer the right setting for the child. In these cases, a longer-term or permanent removal may be necessary.
8. Staff Responsibility
Our staff are responsible for maintaining a safe and positive environment and are trusted to make decisions in the best interests of all children attending. Their judgement will always be based on fairness, safety, and the wellbeing of the group.
9. Parental/Guardian Support
We value working in partnership with parents/guardians and ask that you:
Support this policy and reinforce expectations at home
Work with us if any concerns arise
Be available if contacted regarding behaviour
10. Duty of Care
The safety and wellbeing of all children and staff is our priority. We will always take appropriate action where behaviour affects this.
11. Agreement
By attending Montyz Music, children and parents/guardians agree to follow this policy.
